 20.09.2016

The International Exhibition Center will host Eurovision-2017 song contest. Zurab Alasania, General Manager of the National Television Company of Ukraine announced this news after briefing on September 9th at the Government House. He declared that Kiev is a winner of selection among the cities-candidates and the International Exhibition Centre will host the competition

It was not surprise for IEC team. Previously Vitaly Klitschko, Kyiv Mayor, and Yevhen Nyshchuk, Minister of Culture, stated that IEC is the most modern exhibition center in Ukraine and it is so far the only one place suitable for such tremendous song contest with high technically requirements as Eurovision.
It is known the second and third IEC pavilions were designed and built for hosting such type of events like Eurovision. Thus, it has improved acoustic performance, and halls that can be merged into one and with accommodate up to 18 thousand guests.
The height of the halls from floor to ceilings of farms in the central part is 25 meters. Special design of the ceiling trusses allows to use different layouts of light and extra-heavy sound equipment - suspensions in any part of the scene (up to 1 ton per 1 square meter) and farm in the center of the second hall (up to 240 tons) - it allows to organize the modern volumetrical concert-theatrical effects. The lack of columns in halls provides the possibility to implement any creative ideas.
There are 16 stationary conference halls, dressing rooms and other support rooms that can be used as make-up rooms and various service centers in the complex. 1st pavilion has area 11 000 square meters and can accommodate delegation representative offices and other necessary units with a full connection to engineering networks. Also it could accommodate press center. By the way, the IEC has significant experience in big international forums – for example 34 km of fiber-optic lines was laid for providing the OSCE Ministerial meeting in 2013. Press center was created with ability of using to 1000 Internet ports. There is hall for press conferences which provided with all the necessary connections and individual rooms for briefings.
Anatoly Tkachenko, General Manager of IEC, mentioned in his interview for leading TV channels that all infrastructure of the IEC is ready for hosting Eurovision contest and there is no need to build, change or improve anything. Choice of competition committee is additional evidence showing that IEC with its high standards is the best location for Eurovision -2017 in Ukraine.
